Scott Armstrong, Executive Director of Space Coast United, recently took another significant step in his coaching career by attending the prestigious USSF A Youth License Instructors course. Held at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Kansas City on June 28th, this event marked an important milestone for Scott, who already holds the UEFA A License and the USSF A Youth License. He is also a Doublepass-certified Executive Director. Pursuing Excellence in Coaching Education As a seasoned leader at Space Coast United, Scott’s motivation for attending the course was rooted in his commitment to continual learning and development. “I wanted to further my role as a leader within the club and continue my educational journey,” Scott explained. The course, designed for future A License instructors, provided Scott with the tools and knowledge to better support coaches in their educational goals. Learning and Growing: Key Takeaways Throughout the four-day course, Scott immersed himself in a rigorous schedule of analysis, study, and practical application. One of the most valuable lessons he gained was how to more effectively guide coaches through their learning pathways. “I learned how to better work with coaches in their education goals and the steps they need to take in their learning process,” Scott shared. This newfound insight will undoubtedly enhance the coaching experience at Space Coast United, benefiting both coaches and players alike. A Unique Learning Experience on the Field The course wasn’t just about classroom learning; it also included practical, hands-on experiences. As part of the program, Scott attended a Kansas City game where he and his fellow participants were tasked with scouting the match and presenting their analysis. Additionally, he had the opportunity to watch the U.S. Men’s National Team take on Uruguay in a thrilling Concacaf match. These events added a dynamic element to the course, allowing Scott to apply the principles of play in real-time scenarios. From Analysis to Implementation The course culminated in a comprehensive exercise that involved analyzing a team’s performance, planning training sessions, and presenting strategies that aligned with the principles of play. “It was a long four days of deep analysis, study, and then implementing our findings in designing practices tailored to our next opponent,” Scott noted. This experience not only enhanced his tactical understanding but also reinforced the importance of meticulous planning and evaluation in coaching. Scott’s participation in the USSF A Youth License Instructors course is a testament to his dedication to advancing his coaching expertise and his commitment to leading Space Coast United with excellence. The knowledge and skills he has acquired will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the club, helping to elevate the standards of coaching and player development. Stay tuned for more updates as Scott continues to apply his insights and drive Space Coast United to new heights!
