TRYOUTS HAS COMPLETED
ID Clinics/Tryouts
We are excited to offer our first ECNL, ECNLRL, and Florida Club League (FCL) teams! In an effort to move forward during this pandemic, we are following a new approach to player selection. Current players register to indicate their intention to return to or join SCUSC, an evaluation by the age-bracket coach and director will take place at the ID Clinic, and an invitation to register for the 2020-21 season.
Current Red & White Team Players will register for Tryouts, be placed by their current coach and director, and receive a registration invitation. All players who then commit by the deadline are guaranteed a spot in the club, either on their team or a move to another level.
New and Rec Players will register for Tryouts, be contacted by a coach, and receive an invitation for an in-person evaluation when we are able to return to the fields. US Club team players will be contacted first. New FYSA-only players cannot be contacted until May 18.
SCUSC is committed to our membership through these difficult times and our goal is to accommodate and uphold a fair standard to the player selection and evaluation process. Coaches and directors consistently try to place players in the best level within the club that fits their ability and will allow the player to grow.
UPDATE
Sessions start Monday, June 8! Please see the schedule below.
WAIVERS: ALL Players are required to submit two waivers, one for Parks & Rec and one for SCUSC. Download and print the waivers, sign, and hand-in at the field. Waivers will also be available at a check-in table. Most SCUSC players have already submitted these to their teams, you DO NOT have to repeat them for Tryouts.
Download the waivers here: Parks & Rec Waiver, SCUSC Waiver
PROCEDURE:
SCU Players who already submitted Waivers - go directly to the assigned field and introduce yourself to the Coach. Do not stop at the check-in table. No player numbers are being handed out.
Players arriving with Waivers - stop at a check-in table to hand in your waivers, then proceed to the assigned field.
PROTOCOLS:
- Please check your child’s temperature before coming to any tryout session and ensure that they feel well and are not presenting any symptoms.
- Notify the coach and club immediately if your child(ren) becomes ill.
- Ensure your child(ren) has individual hand sanitizer, plenty of water, and their own soccer ball clearly labeled. SCUSC is unable to provide communal water stations at this time.
- Remind your child(ren) to maintain recommended social distance before, during, and after tryout sessions.
- As an observer, please maintain the recommended social distance before, during, and after tryout sessions.
- We recommend washing all clothing after every tryout session.
- We recommend sanitizing all equipment with CDC approved products and methods before and after every tryout session.

Steps to Virtual Tryouts

1 | Register for Virtual Tryouts. Registering for Tryouts signifies your intent to play at SCUSC. All players, regardless of level, should register. Use the REGISTER button below. We have a new system! We will be using Total Global Sports (TGS) for Comp Registration. You will need to make an account. Tryouts is a short registration. For the 2020-21 Season commitment, you will be required to provide some further documentation.
ALL players age 13 and older will need an email address. Create the account with the player's email first (you will add yours later). This is an ECNL requirement. TGS offers benefits to player accounts including College Recruitment, Workouts and a Player App. The player email is required whether you are interested in these options or not. On the first screen, please double-check the Date of Birth you set before clicking Next. Some registrations are being recorded with incorrect birth years. |
2 | Current SCUSC Comp Players. After registering, wait for an invitation to season registration, starting May 25. All returning players are guaranteed a spot within the club. Final team placements will be awarded after our summer ID Clinics where all players are evaluated.
With ECNL, playing up will be very limited. All players who request to play up will first be considered for their true age bracket and then identified through ID Camps for one age higher. Players coming from other clubs and Current Rec players. Players will be contacted by a coach or director to talk about the level of league they are interested in. Once we return to training, an in-person evaluation will take place. Players will be awarded a spot on a team based on their ability and a discussion with the family of the player, the coach, and the program director. |
3 | If applicable, apply for Financial Assistance. Comp Applications are due July 31. See our Financial Assistance page. |
4 | Commit. Starting May 11 our current members will be able to complete the club registration process and make a commitment to SCUSC. Those players who complete the registration process will have a guaranteed spot within the club. |
5 | Evaluations. All players will be evaluated at our summer ID Clinics once we are able to return to training. Players will be contacted when we have a secure date. |
Why we have chosen this path
At Space Coast United SC, we move players throughout the year based on their quality of development. We give players the opportunity to be evaluated at the highest level of their age group. Players recommended by our SCUSC staff are invited to train up or guest play throughout the season. We consistently try to place players in the level that best fits their ability, and one that will allow them to grow within the game and outside of it.
As a result of the current environment, we have moved away from the tryout format of multiple days of player evaluations. As you are aware, trying out is stressful and some players (and parents) struggle with the pressure. ID Clinics are an opportunity to evaluate players in a more conducive and efficient manner. SCUSC wants to ensure that players are and will continuously be assessed during the season based on the coach’s recommendations, attitude at training, work ethic, and performances at practices and games.
For players new to SCUSC Comp, the clinics are a traditional Tryout procedure.
Player Commitment
Competitive soccer is a full season commitment, Fall and Spring. When you accept a spot on a team, you are committed to the practices, games, tournaments and financial obligations for the 2020-21 season.
SCUSC is committed to guaranteeing every returning Comp player has a spot within the Club. That spot may not be on their previous team. Final placements will be determined when we are able to return to training. For those players who are not satisfied with this placement, registrations can be canceled and refunds provided.
If you are new to SCUSC, it is important that you familiarize yourself with our program and the expected player commitment. Visit our Competitive Program page for full details.
Financial Assistance
Now is the time to apply for Financial Aid. Applications are due July 31. If your player is in the Brevard County Public Schools Free and Reduced Lunch Program, you are eligible to apply for assistance. Apply now even if you are unsure of your child's position on a team. See our Financial Assistance page for full details and an application.
