Program Descriptions
First Touch and Recreational In-House Programs
First Touch and Recreational In-House are for boys and girls ages 3 years to 8 years old. Teams play each other in an in-house league. See below for specific age information. All Programs are available in the Fall and Spring.
Contact: Hugh Cousins, rec@spacecoastsoccer.org
The objective of First Touch is to replicate the back garden environment in which most young players are introduced to soccer by helping to educate parents on activities that can be used in this situation. These specific physical play programs for children from 3-4 years old are aimed at giving children their very first start with the ball. 5-year-olds not quite ready for Recreational In-House are also able to register.
How Does It Work?
The sessions involve both the parent and their child participating within the practice. The head coach oversees the practice, demonstrating the activities. The activities are based on a philosophy that utilizes the child’s imagination to create a positive, exciting, and fun soccer environment. As a result of this soccer philosophy, we create a fun, yet highly active, pressure-free practice.
Coaching Methodology
First Touch uses soccer to develop not only coordination skills but emphasizes socialization. The program is about a great deal more than just developing a child's affinity and control with the ball, it is about giving them a well-rounded start in their physical, social and educational development and developing the 'whole child'.
Benefits include: balance and coordination improvement, increased self confidence and improved social skills.
Recreational In-House is designed to offer an alternative to the traditional recreational program in that it provides a development pathway to the next levels of Junior Division U9-U14 & Senior Division U15-U19.
We provide a progressive weekly age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on ball mastery, 1v1 situations, passing, shooting/striking, defending, and overall individual player development. This can be differentiated from a traditional recreational program where the focus is to develop a team rather than develop the player.
Professional Club Trainers are available at every session to help and oversee Parent Coaches to deliver the weekly lesson plan.

In-House U5-U8 = $175 (includes uniform)

Recreational BYSL Program
The Recreational BYSL (Brevard Youth Soccer League) Program is for both boys & girls U9 to U19 who want to continue to improve their skills and play the game of soccer. Teams play other Brevard County clubs in the BYSL league. See below for specific age information. All Programs are available in the Fall and Spring.
In the Recreational BYSL Program emphasis is placed on continuing development for the kids who may want to play high school soccer, while continuing other sports or activities. Also, many just continue to play for the fun. Teams play within the Brevard Youth Soccer League (BYSL).
The Rec BYSL program continues the tradition of the In-House style training with emphasis placed on continuing skill development. Kids who play other sports will have the option to play in either the fall and/or spring season. Teams are based on age.
The Spring season runs from late March to early May. Fall runs late August to November. There are 8 - 10 games per season, half of the games played at home and others against other Brevard clubs.
