Space Coast United Staff gives back at Family Promise of Brevard Inc.

February 28, 2026 - Cocoa, Florida - Space Coast United, staff took some time out of their day to giveback to the community at Family Promise in Cocoa, Florida.

Family Promise is the nation's leading organization working to prevent and end family homelessness by providing food pantries, drop-in community centers, clothing closets, transportation programs, and more.

On Friday morning, our SCU staff arrived on site to assist with tidying the grounds by plucking weeds, brushing leaves, picking up trash, and power washing the sidewalk areas. These tasks helped give the facility a brand new refresh to help support people who may use the services offered at Family Promise.

Space Coast United Girls Academy show up and shows out at Winter Showcase

GA Girls show up and show out at the GA Winter Showcase

Norco, California - This December our 2007/08, 2009, and 2010 GA Girls team traveled to Norco, California where they competed against top talent at the Girls Academy Winter Showcase. At this showcase there are +100 college coaches ranging from Division 1 to Division 3 schools where players are looking to show off their skills to hopefully continue their athletic career, and play at a university.

The showcase kicked off, December 4th, with our 2009, & 2010 girls hitting the fields first. Our 2010 girls competed against Sporting City Soccer Club's 2010 GA team, where they came out on top defeating Sporting City 5-1. Goals were scored by Vera Creager, who found the back of the net twice, Avery Bryant, and Aubrey Baker.

On Day 2 of the showcase our 2007/2008 team took the field, playing against SDSC Surf's 2007/2008 girls GA. They were able to walk away with the first win of the showcase in a tight match against SDSC, coming out on top with a 2-1 win. Hailey Thibodeau had a stellar game, finding the back of the net twice.

Day 3 was a busy day for our girls as all three teams hit the field to continue their great start. Beginning the day bright and early, our 2007/2008 GA girls hit the field first at 8AM PST going against Rise Soccer Club 08/07 GA team. Shortly after, our 2010 GA team went against Tulsa Soccer Club at 9:45am PST, and our 2009 GA team went at 11:35 am PST. Battling til the final whistle our 07/08 girls were able to walk away with a tie against RISE soccer club, 1-1, with a header goal from Bella Bolin. Our 2010 GA girls came out on top defeating Tulsa Soccer Club 3-0. Callie Kuehner had herself a day, scoring 2 goals, and Aubrey Baker adding to the score with one goal.

Day 4 our 2009 GA girls faced Michigan Tigers FC 09 GA, and our 2010 GA girls went against Washington Rush 10 GA girls for their final day. Ending on a high note our 2010 girls defeated Washington Rush 2-0, and our 2009 girls CRUSHED Michigan Tigers 4-1, making this a successful trip and a relaxing trip back to the east coast.

On the final day of the showcase our 2007/2008 girls hit the fields early at 8am PST facing off against RNY FC Youth 08/07 GA girls team finding the back of the next three times, and walking away with their second win of the showcase, 3-2.

Our 2007/2008 had such a successful performance while in Norco, that the girls finished the showcase at the top of Group K! Overall this showcase was a success trip for our GA teams, and led to a lot of exposure to college coaches for our players, and the club!

G irls Director Joey Messina, and Boys Director Vince Laleau, are no strangers to furthering their education in the coaching world, and this past year they embarked on their US B License course at our very own home fields, Viera Regional.

This will not be the first coaching license that our directors have gotten before while coaching at Space Coast United. Six years ago, Joey, and Vince went across the pond to Wales, with our Foundation Director Nic Nazon, where they were set out to get their UEFA B License over the course of a week. While on this trip our directors were faced with learning the Welsh Way of soccer and how to appropriately plan and execute practice sessions. Crafting their own practice sessions, giving depth and reasoning as to why and where they would run certain position specific drills, and small sided games. They also learned about various soccer interventions and how to correctly use them during practice sessions so it would allow for players to have a high ball rolling time, and still understand the message from the practice. This course allowed for our coaches to bring back what they learn and implement with our coaches, by crafting what our clubs game model looks like, and what their practices would look like for coaches who come to the club.

This coaching course is a prestigious achievement for our coaches considering the time that is takes to complete it, the rigorous class work that is completed at the in person sessions, and online, rigorous classwork that is to be completed, time commitment that it takes, and the small selection of coaches that are selected for this course. After six years out from their last course, our coaches have had years to prepare for their US B Course. This course spanned over the course of 6 months where they had to create a 6 week practice plan, 2 in person week sessions, +80 hours of coursework, and mentor meetings.

Our coaches wrap up with this course over December 21st, and we are excited to see and hear all that they have learned so they can bring it back to Space Coast United, and make our clubs even more elite.

It’s that time of year again, College Soccer Media Day, and we couldn't be more proud to see so many of our Space Coast United alumni suiting up, stepping in front of the cameras, and representing their schools with pride.

All three directors started their SCU journeys as young coaches, grew through the ranks, and never left – proving that dedication, passion, and belief in a shared vision can drive real transformation. From coaching on local fields to traveling to Wales together to earn their UEFA licenses, their story is one of growth, grit, and lifelong commitment to the SCU family.

Big news for soccer in Brevard County: Space Coast United has officially joined the prestigious Girls Academy (GA), a move that’s set to elevate youth soccer in the region and provide new opportunities for female athletes.

The Girls Academy is one of the top-tier soccer leagues in the U.S., designed to help girls grow as athletes both on and off the field. With a focus on elite training, competition, and creating pathways to college and professional soccer, it’s the ideal platform for aspiring players.

Space Coast United Welcomes Back Vince Laleau as Boys Director

Space Coast United Soccer Club is thrilled to announce the return of Vince Laleu as the club’s Boys Director . Vince, who was instrumental in shaping the club’s success from 2016 to 2023, is back to lead the boys’ program to even greater heights. His return marks a new chapter in the club’s journey, one built on the solid foundation he helped establish during his first tenure.

Vince’s history with Space Coast United is rich and impactful. From 2016 to 2023, he served as the Boys NPL Head Coach for U11 and U12 teams, where his focus on player development and tactical understanding helped nurture some of the club’s brightest young talent. Vince’s transition to the Boys ECNL Head Coach for U15, U16, and U17 teams saw him lead the teams through one of the most competitive youth leagues in the country. His ability to get the best out of players and create a winning environment earned the respect of players, parents, and fellow coaches alike.

In addition to his work with the boys’ teams, Vince also made an impact with the Girls ECNL-RL U15 team , demonstrating his versatility in coaching both male and female athletes. His leadership helped elevate the girls’ program, and his reputation as a coach who could bring out the best in every player grew significantly during this time.

In 2024, Vince took on a broader role as a Staff Coach , continuing to mentor both players and coaches at the club, sharing his wealth of knowledge and passion for the game. Now, as the Boys Director , Vince will oversee the development of the junior and senior boys’ divisions, ensuring that Space Coast United’s commitment to excellence continues to be upheld.

Alongside his work at the club, Vince has been a key figure in high school soccer. Serving as the Assistant Coach for the Viera High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team from 2017 to 2025, he helped guide the team to 6 District Championships, 3 Regional Championships, and 3 State Final Four Appearances , solidifying his reputation as one of the top coaches in the area.

Vince’s qualifications reflect his deep commitment to coaching excellence. He holds the UEFA B License , Irish Football Federation C License , and USSF D License , all of which speak to his extensive knowledge of the game and his dedication to continuous professional development. Additionally, his playing experience with Eastern Florida State College , the U23 Haitian National Team , and Club Atletico Banfield Reserves provides him with a well-rounded perspective on the game, which he shares with his players.

The return of Vince Laleu as the Boys Director is an exciting moment for Space Coast United. With his wealth of experience, passion for player development, and proven track record of success, Vince is the perfect leader to continue building on the club’s legacy and guiding the next generation of players to even greater achievements. A New Chapter: Haris Memisevic’s Departure from Spacecoast United

After three transformative years with Spacecoast United Soccer Club, Haris Memisevicbids farewell to the club, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, excellence, and leadership. As the Boys Director, Haris had become a cornerstone of the club’s development, overseeing both junior and senior boys’ divisions and maintaining the highest standards of play. His influence extended beyond just training; it was about shaping the future of soccer both on and off the field.

During his time at Spacecoast United, Haris wore many hats. His most notable role was as the U14 Boys ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) Coach, where he mentored and developed some of the club’s most promising young talents. Under his guidance, the U14 team flourished, seeing not only improvement in their technical skills but also a significant leap in their understanding of the game. His tactical knowledge and ability to push players to achieve their potential were evident in every training session, and the results spoke for themselves, with the team achieving impressive performances on the national stage.

In addition to his work with the U14 team, Haris was also the U12 Boys DCL Academy Coach. The DCL (Developmental Club League) Academy was designed for young, high-potential players, and Haris excelled in creating an environment where these boys could grow and refine their skills in preparation for higher levels of competition. It was clear that Haris was not only coaching the game but also instilling valuable life lessons of discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

One of Haris’s standout roles at Spacecoast United was as a FAW Welsh Federation Coach Educator . In this capacity, he was responsible for teaching and evaluating coaches on the methodologies and techniques necessary for obtaining their UEFA coaching licenses. His expertise in coaching, combined with his extensive experience, made him a respected figure among fellow coaches. Through his mentorship, many coaches were able to achieve their UEFA certifications and elevate their coaching careers, a testament to his passion for soccer development at every level.

As if this wasn’t enough, Haris is also pursuing his 2025/26 UEFA A/Elite Youth A License , a prestigious qualification that will further solidify his standing as one of the top coaches in the world. His ambition to continue learning and growing in his profession is a reflection of his character—a constant drive to improve and offer the best for his players and peers.

Throughout his tenure at Spacecoast United, Haris not only trained young athletes but also took the time to invest in the next generation of coaches. He conducted numerous training sessions and workshops, sharing his knowledge with coaches at all levels. His approach was always collaborative, fostering a community where everyone could grow together. His philosophy was simple: if the coach grows, the player grows. And if the player grows, the club grows.

But as with all great journeys, Haris’s time at Spacecoast United has come to a close. His departure is bittersweet for both the players and coaches who have had the privilege of learning from him. His leadership, passion, and dedication to the development of the club will not be easily forgotten.

While it is a time of transition, Haris leaves with a sense of pride and fulfillment. Space Coast United Coaches Take Part in Foundation Division Training Session

Space Coast United’s Foundation Division coaches participated in a valuable in-house learning and training session designed to enhance how practices are run for our youngest soccer players. Led by Foundation Director Hugh Cousins, the session focused on ensuring that all coaches are aligned with the club’s curriculum and equipped to deliver high-quality, engaging practices for the players.

During the training, coaches had the opportunity to walk through some of the core practice drills that will be used in the Foundation Division this season. The hands-on approach allowed coaches to experience the drills firsthand and understand the key elements of each exercise. This process is essential in helping them break down the drills and determine how to effectively run them in real-world scenarios.

By participating in these sessions, coaches gained a deeper understanding of what is expected during training: how to clearly communicate the drills to young players, create a fun yet educational environment, and manage the timing and structure of each drill. The controlled environment gave coaches a chance to evaluate whether any drills needed modifications, ensuring that every session is appropriate for the age group and skill level.

“We want to make sure that every coach knows exactly what they’re doing when they step onto the field,” said Hugh Cousins. “By taking the time to run through the drills, we’re ensuring consistency across all teams, which will ultimately help the players improve on a daily basis.”
