Current Board Member up for Re-election

Derek Sichler - re-elected for a new term

I have been involved with the Space Coast United soccer club for the past 16 years. I have coached at every age group in the club and am currently coaching the U17 Boys White team. I have also been a board member at the club and an active member of the Board's Finance team. I also coach both JV and Varsity soccer at Viera High School.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to serve my community and mentor the future generation.

I and my wife, Deanne, live in Melbourne together with our two teenage boys, Jordan and Caden. In my spare time, I am an active member of the Church at Viera.

New Board Candidates

Lisa Girard - Elected

I have been very active in the Space Coast United Soccer Club the last six years since my family moved to Viera, Florida in July of 2014.  I am a mother of two SCUSC soccer boys (2006 and 2008), have been a team manager for the past four years, and an assistant registrar with the club.  I received a BS in Accountancy from the University of Connecticut and my MBA from Indiana University.  Prior to retirement, I worked at a Fortune 50 company in Finance and then later as a Mom Fitness Blogger.  In addition to being active in the SCUSC community, I am also very active in the Space Coast Runners community as an avid runner and former member of the Running Zone Race Team.  I am a huge proponent of lifelong fitness and having fitness be fun not work.

I am applying for the SCUSC board of directors as an expansion of my existing advocacy roles.  I feel being on the board will help me advocate on behalf of the Space Coast athletes and their parents, in a more impactful way than being a team manager alone allows.  Unlike much larger soccer clubs that treat training our youth as a business, Space Coast United Soccer Club is a family that reflects the values of those involved in its organization.

Michael Perry - Elected

I am and have been a coach for Space Coast United Soccer YDP since 2014. My daughter Lexi also plays for Space Coast.

On the Soccer side,  I've been playing soccer since I was 4. I played youth soccer both here in Brevard County and in Hawaii. I played high school soccer at Palm Bay High and played college ball at Campbell University (Div-1). I also played for the East Coast Soccer League and the adult soccer league at Hoover/Wickham.  I also have been a soccer referee now going on year 33. I have done youth soccer since I was 18 and I have been an FHSAA soccer official for 20 years now. Finally, I have been coaching youth soccer for 33 years now. I have coached for Palm bay Youth Soccer,  a soccer league in North Carolina, and now for Space Coast United for nearly 7 years. I have had the privilege of working with some great people like Matt Shannon, Hugh Cousins, Ryan Peschi, and Rob Dinnie.

On the professional side, I am the Cardiac Cath Coordinator and a Cardiovascular Specialist for the Cardiac Cath Lab at Holmes Regional Medical Center. I am in my 21st year in the Cath lab and my 23rd year at the hospital. The reason I am applying for a Board of Directors position is very simple. I love the game of soccer and I truly love working with the great group of kids and people we have at Space Coast United. I think I would provide some valuable insight and knowledge to our club and hope to help it grow into an even more premier league that it is. I have always felt that our league produces great players. I think that my years of soccer involvement would be a great benefit to our club.  I would love the opportunity to help our club develop and grow ever further. I thank you in advance for you considering me for a Board position.

Kelli McGuire

Hello Space Coast families. My name is Kelli McGuire and I am hoping to provide service to the club as a board member for the next few years. I am a supportive wife of going on 16 years, mother of two children (6-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy), a full-time activities director at a local nursing home, and an avid sports fan.

My family and I have been with the Space Coast United family for over 5 years now.  I would be a great addition to the board because I have dipped my toes in a little bit of everything with the club.  I would be able to give meaningful and insightful information from many different perspectives.   I know what it is like to have been a recreation coach, team parent, team manager and supportive wife of a husband who coaches with the club at the competitive level.   Through my kids, we have been on the white team, the red team and the recreation teams.   I know what it is like to live, eat and breathe soccer for months on end and I know what it is like to have a kid who likes soccer and dance too.   We have been through mini-kickers, pathways, recreation programs, competitive programs, goalkeeping practices, spring break and summer camps, and helping out when needed for coaching clinics.

I have been at my current job as an Activities Director at a local nursing home for over 15 years.  I am an integral part of daily meetings where we have to come together as a team to make the best decisions for individuals, groups of people and for the facility. The easiest path is not always the best path and you have to be willing to ask questions.  I will ask questions and I will listen to answers.  I will come to the table not with problems, but solutions.  We learn the best by talking to others and gaining perspective.   I will admit when I am wrong and apologize for misunderstandings.  Above all, I am fair, honest and kind.  I would be honored to assist our club to continue to grow to the next level.

Dan  Moffatt

My name is Dan Moffatt. I’ve been a Viera resident since moving to Florida in 2017 for work. I have two children, both of which are players for SCUSC.

I have been the acting team manager for my son’s team for the past two years and an assistant volunteer coach prior to that for the rec. program. Always willing to lend a hand, I have made myself available for any and all aspects of club business and will continue to do so regardless of sitting on the board or not.

I’m eager to bring my business knowledge to the club to continue the great legacy of Space Coast United.

Jeff Ramsey

I am the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (Air Force JROTC) at Eau Gallie High School, Melbourne, Florida. I have been an educator at the high school level for 13 years and an assistant professor for seven years at the college level. Prior to teaching, I served twenty years in the United States Air Force retiring at the rank of Major. I have held numerous jobs within the military. I began my career as a C-141 Loadmaster stationed at Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, South Carolina. I completed ROTC at the College of Charleston and received my commission and was assigned to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Launch Officer. After completing that assignment I was assigned to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, as an Air Force Space Launch Director. I have a Master’s Degree in Management from Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University, Illinois.

I also have coaching experience as the head coach of a school wrestling team.  I am married to Michelle Ramsey. We have six children with the youngest child (Emma) playing on the 2019-2020 Space Coast United U14 Girls Red Team.

Statement on why I want to serve the members of the Space Coast United Soccer Club

My time in education has taught me that every student has potential and as adults we have the immense responsibility to nurture this potential to the fullest extent possible. I truly believe our players will reach their goals if we provide for them every tool necessary to achieve them, from world class facilities to superb training by our outstanding club coaches. I believe I can contribute to the board by bringing in experiences from my education, coaching, and military careers. I look forward to working with the families of Space Coast United, Club Directors, Staff, and Coaches as we move the club forward during our 2020-2021 season.

“Go Storm”

Michael Snell

I believe I would be an essential asset to the Space Coast United Soccer Club Board of Directors.  In the past 25 years, both professionally and personally, I have sought out ownership and leadership roles.  Thru these various positions I have excelled in skills such as project management, customer service, negotiation and accountability.

I have a huge passion for youth sports and believe they have a strong role in preparing the younger generation for life by teaching them character, integrity, teamwork, and work ethic.  I have personally experienced this by watching my, now 12-year-old, son grow through coordinated sports activities.

I found the passion for soccer back when my son started playing at the age of 5 in a local Chicago team. I have volunteered every year as the Team Manager since that day (7 years, 14 seasons). Some responsibilities included (but not limited to):

  • Team Communications
  • Team Schedule (Go to league scheduling meeting Schedule all games for 10 seasons)
  • Assist Coach

Being part of this great community made me want to take it a step further and join our Chicago club’s Soccer Community Organization.   This was a great way to stay engaged and give back:

  • Coordinated fundraising efforts to provide soccer scholarships and programs for kids.
  • Team leader for Breast cancer awareness program and the Gift a Mammogram for Women.
  • Lead Thanksgiving food drives that provided over 100 meals for families in need.
  • Lead member of golf committee for the organization’s largest yearly fundraiser.

I believe I can bring the same focus, dedication, and passion to this organization.  I look forward to the opportunity and challenges of being able to serve on the Space Coast United Soccer Club Board of Directors.

Dave Trout

I am excited to have the potential opportunity to serve on the board at Space Coast United Soccer Club. As a long time Brevard resident (born and raised) I believe I can contribute to Board of Directors given my background in business as a CEO and President of a startup company in manufacturing for 25 years. During my youth both my parents served on numerous sports boards to give back to the county youth. Now that I have the opportunity to serve, I feel the same way today.

My family has been with Space Coast United for five years. My wife and I have two children currently playing at the club. We look forward to seeing them grow through the club for many years to come. I am very familiar with the soccer landscape in Brevard and other counties and have been volunteering and contributing to Space Coast United for the past five years.
