SCUSC Programs

Space Coast United Soccer Club offers a number of programs appropriate to a wide variety of skill levels.  Our youngest players can begin participating in our Mini-Kickers program at 4 years old.  Our U6 through U10 members participate in our Youth Development Program, and many of our U12 and older club members participate in our Recreational Program.  We offer a TOPSoccer program for or young athletes with disabilities aged 4 - 19 years old. For those players enthusiastic about soccer, the club offers a developmental/competitive program starting at the under 10 age group.  Finally, for those players who wish to keep their skills sharp over the winter, SCUSC offers a 4v4 program during January and February.

SCUSC Recreational Mini-Kickers Program

The SCUSC Mini-Kickers program is our entry level soccer program for 4 and 5 year olds. The Mini-Kickers Program is designed for players to be on the field with a parent or guardian for a 50 minute session once per week. These sessions are led by professional trainers who will make this learning experience fun and exciting with themes such as Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Spiderman.

Program Duration, Location, and Frequency: Saturday Mornings, Wickham or Viera parks

SCUSC Recreational Youth Development Program

The Space Coast United Youth Development Program (YDP) focuses on child and player development in an environment that promotes experimentation and creativity, and is intended to promote a player’s life-long love of the sport. The YDP puts the needs of the children first and provides a higher level of technical and tactical training led by professional trainers in a fun and rewarding environment. This program is, essentially, giving the game back to the kids. Additional information is available on our YDP page.

Program Duration, Location, and Frequency: Practices once (U5 and U6) or twice a week (U7-U10), games Saturday morning. Wickham or Viera parks

Participants in the recreational program range from first-time players gaining their first experience to the game all the way to players who have participated for many seasons. At this level Space Coast has two leagues which female players can choose from : co-ed or girls only league.

Program Duration, Location, and Frequency: Practices twice a week at either Wickham or Viera Parks. Games on Saturday; home games at Viera Regional Park, away games at other clubs in Brevard County.

SCUSC Competitive Soccer Program

Our mission for the developmental/competitive soccer program is to provide progressive technical soccer training for enthusiastic young players (U10-U12) that will develop the "whole" person/athlete in an age appropriate context.

Typical practices and game schedules are very similar to recreational soccer. Practices are held twice a week. The games (8-10 per season) are generally held on Saturday and occasionally on a Sunday as in the recreational program. Half of the games will be at home (Viera Regional Park), and the other half will be at other fields generally within Brevard County, most within a 30-45 minute drive or less from home.

The one major difference between recreational and developmental soccer is the commitment expected from the parents and players. The developmental players are expected to commit to playing both fall and spring seasons with the team once they are selected during tryouts. They can play other sports during the soccer year, but we would hope soccer games would be the priority when deciding what to attend when schedule conflicts arise. Many of our players have played both basketball and baseball during the soccer seasons and very few conflicts arose. Practices will generally be held between seasons as well to keep in “soccer” shape all year round. The players will also be expected to attend tournaments that the coach plans to attend (one or two each season – usually within Brevard County). This information will be provided well in advance so that plans can be made.

The other commitment for the parents is a financial one. The parents in our competitive program will generally spend more for uniforms (higher quality home and away jerseys/socks lasting several seasons), professional trainers, and tournaments than in the recreational program.  These costs can range from $20 up to about $75 a month per player for those teams that use a great deal of professional training, and should be provided by the coach upon request. To offset these costs, competitive teams will solicit sponsors for the team and will also hold various fundraisers throughout the year.

As you can tell there is a larger commitment for the developmental player and parents, but we believe it is well worth it if your child is enthusiastic about the game of soccer.
