SCU U13 Girls State Cup Takes Gator Showcase, Trains with Legends
In another important prep tournament for the upcoming State Cup tournament, the SCU U13 Girls State Cup team recently took the title at the Gator Showcase. The team completed group play undefeated with 3 wins and allowing only 1 goal. In the final they faced a tough West Pines United Club team that similarly won all 3 group games allowing only 1 goal. The hard fought final was scoreless though regulation and overtime play, leading to a penalty kick shootout, won by Space Coast 1-0! Congratulations to the girls on their tournament victory and best of luck in the upcoming State Cup tournament.
The following weekend, the girls had the opportunity of a lifetime: they participated in a training session with Tony DiCicco, U.S. World Cup and Olympic Gold Champion Head Coach and Michelle Akers, Soccer Legend, FIFA Co-Player of the Century and Two-Time World Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medallist at the Disney Soccer Champions Soccer Clinic.
