Three Storm Squads are BYSL Champs
Three Space Coast United teams had another successful weekend at the Brevard Youth Soccer League Championships held May 16 and 17 at Hobart Park in Sebastian. Invitations to the championships are extended only to those teams that have excelled in BYSL play in the fall or spring seasons.
Our U14 Girls Premier team (above) coached by Rob Pedrick took the title in the U14 division with a pair of victories Sunday. The team earned an invitation based on their undefeated BYSL spring season playing up to the U15 division. In their semifinal match, the girls posted a tough 2:1 victory over Hobe Sound. In the final against a scrappy squad from Mako, the Storm prevailed with a 5:1 victory. This is the fourth year in a row this team has earned an invitation to the BYSL playoffs, and their first championship! Next up for the U14 Girls Premier is the Disney Memorial Weekend Shootout.
The U10 Girls team (above; Courtney Baines and Lynne Mills) took the U10 Girls title over the weekend. The girls won their semifinal match against Melbourne Beach Tsunami 2:1, and then defeated Pt. St. John 3:1 in the final.
Our U12 Boys Premier team (above) coached by Hank Baron and Devin Dean took the U12 BYSL crown with a 2:0 victory over Mako Saturday behind two goals by Dominic Carrillo and strong goalkeeping performances by Marshall Irwin and Bryan Levy. Next up for the U12 Premier team is the Seminole Memorial Tournament in Sanford in the U13 division, as the boys begin to prepare for full-sided soccer.
Congratulations to all of these teams on a successful season!
