Coach/Team Philosophy:
The objective will be on creating a positive environment in which the players can continue to develop their individual technical skills with the ball, and a passion for the game. We will continue the ground work started in the club’s YDP and U10 competitive programs. We will focus on technical ball skills, passing and receiving, finishing, possessing, defending and transitioning from attacking to defending and vice versa. Training sessions will be our primary environment for developing players with all sessions following USSF/USYS/FYSA guidelines. Game day will be about preparation, observation, managing playing time, providing coaching points, and most of all catching them “doing good”. Encouraging and building player confidence is critical to success. Team will train at least one day a week with club trainer (John Duguid – USSF A Certified).
Other information:
Commitment to this team is “one soccer” year, which spans from Aug 2011 – May 2012. Fall season starts first week in August, and runs up until Thanksgiving which includes BYSL league and tournament games. December is generally a down month with no formal team training. January starts the 4v4 winter street soccer program which is highly encouraged for all players, and overlaps Region Cup tournament training and preparation. Spring season league play begins in March and runs through May. We will encourage the girls to participate in a few other club sponsored and coordinated activities/sessions during the year.
