Two SCUSC Teams Finish 1st at Palm Bay Fire & Fury

The Space Coast United Boys U14 Premiere competed in the Palm Bay Fire and Fury Tournament this weekend and came away with an undefeated record of 4-0!
The Storm cruised Saturday with two wins against Westside from Jacksonville 7-0 and the then a 6-0 win against host club Palm Bay.
Sunday morning saw the Storm team get behind 2-0 to the East Orange Rebels State Cup Team. In dramatic fashion the Storm managed to show their character and score 3 spectacular goals in the last 15 minutes of the game to win their 3rd game 3-2!
In the afternoon Final the Storm team faced a tough undefeated team from the other bracket, the Port St. Lucie Juventas. Getting an early 2 goal lead and then missing on a number of other chances the Storm and Juventas played an excellent game to the end with the Storm prevailing 2-1! A great weekend of soccer indeed!
The U14 Boys team is coached by Hank Baron and Alex Griffin. Go Storm!”

The Space Coast United Soccer Club’s under-11 girls Storm coached by Bill Richards defeated Central Florida Krush (White) by a final score of 2-1 to take home the U-12G Silver bracket champion’s trophy.
Sara scored for the Storm on a shot into the left side of the net with less than a minute remaining in the first half.  The Krush tied the match quickly in the second half.  After 70 minutes of regulation and overtime the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Storm won the ensuing shootout, 4-2, when goalkeeper Brooklynne saved Krush’s fourth shot and Anne Marie sank hers into the corner of the net.  The match was easily the most closely fought of the tournament for the Storm.
Both teams displayed excellent teamwork and ball skills throughout to generate scoring opportunities.  Both defenses excelled at shutting down those opportunities and both keepers produced numerous key saves. This is the first tournament championship for the Storm U-11 Girls who finished their regular season with an 8-1-1 record. Congratulations Storm!

Brevard Fall Challenge 2010

Great weekend for the U15 Premier Storm squad, Coached by Shawn StarrsTed Farmer, and Gordon Wight, as they won their division at the Brevard Fall Challenge. The team battled back from a 1 nil deficit at halftime to win 4-2 against a very good Creeks Clash team. A special thanks to Keyon Zakeri, who stepped up to help out a shorthanded defense as a guest player. GO STORM!

The U13 Girls Premier team coached by James Phillips and Thornton Hinshaw finished as runner ups in the Brevard Fall Challenge.
The team turned in a strong defensive performance and allowed only 2 goals
in 4 games. In the championship game, the team took a 1-0 lead into the
second half, but Ponte Vedra tied the score late in the game. The team
eventually lost a tough one in sudden death penalty kicks.
Congratulations to the Storm.

Columbus Holiday Tournament Success for Space Coast U11 Boys

Both of our U11 Boys competitive teams were in tournament action over Columbus Day weekend, with both teams earning spots in their respective tournament finals.

Our U11 Boys Elite team (coaches Devin Dean and Nick Inganna, trainer Vlade Campo) journeyed to Tampa to participate in the Adidas Columbus Day Classic.  The boys started off the tournament with a 4:0 win over ASG Florida, and followed that up with a 6:0 decision over host Hillsborough County United White.  Still needing a win to advance to the final, the Storm defeated the Brandon Flames 6:0 to set up a rematch against ASG Florida in the final.  Typical of the weekend, a total team effort with everyone contributing led to a 6:0 tournament final victory.

Our U11 Boys Premier team (coach Vlade Campo) competed in the Brevard Fall Challenge.  Pool play consisted of a 5:1 victory over Mako Sharks and a 1:1 draw against Ponte Vedra.  Elimination round play on Sunday saw the Storm prevail 2:1 over First Coast Academy Red.  In the tournament final however, the Storm Premier ran into a talented Florida Blue Inter team, losing a 8:0 decision.

Congratulations to both of our U11 Boys competitive squads on their tournament runs this weekend!
